Separating Fact from Fiction

Over the next 18 months, the 3 giants of the game console world will be fighting in the shops and homes across Europe, America and Asia for the title of world’s largest game console. Much is at stake in this business for several million dollars, not only for the console sales, but sales of games to go along with it. Since the launch of the ads from 3 consoles in May at the E3 conference in Los Angeles. The 3 combatants have been vying for the millions of columns that have been written about the next generation consoles. Each press has been hotly followed by another press release from a rival company, so much so that the removal of all the facts of fashion has been almost impossible. At the launch press conferences Microsoft boasted that the Xbox 360 can make 9 million points-output operations per second. Sony then came out and said that the PS3 could make 51 million product-point operations per second. However, Sony has combined the performance of the CPU and GPU, while the numbers Microsoft only reported the number of performance CPU. When the consumer is faced with this kind of advertising snowstorm it is best not to believe anything until you can verify the facts for yourself. Therefore, what do we know? Good for Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3, which have large numbers of lists and specification of hardware that does not really mean much in isolation. The main thing that should concern us is the processor speeds and is stated as 3.2 GHz The only time that the hardware is to mean anything when it comes to run side by side, and if experience is anything to go for the difference in real life performance will not be visible and will only be used by the press departments to battle it out. Despite all the press releases and information that have been thrown outside the headquarters of Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, we know very few facts. We know that in all likelihoods the Xbox 360 will be on shelves in time for Christmas, Amazon is currently taking pre-orders and delivery is quoted a release date of November 28. Prices are set at $ 299 for the Core System and $ 399 for the Xbox 360, with the difference that the central system does not have the external hard drive for storing games and download new content or headphones to play online Xbox Live! Why 2 prices? and why a version that are not all inclusive? This is a lot like a product of the marketing department trying to get a product at the historically important sub $ 300 more than anything, which may turn against them in the long term. Next to hit the shelves will be Sony’s Playstation 3 supposedly in spring next year, once again, we have very little data to track, Sony released continually cited press releases and in public that the price is high and figure of $ 500 has been mentioned, but many industry experts suspect that this is a ploy so that when we release it at $ 300 or $ 350 it will look like a bargain. The last console to hit the shelves of the Nintendo Revolution will be some time in late 2006 and 2007. Since the launch in the E3, this year very little has been said about it by Nintendo. It appears at this time the "Launch" was just a way to divert part of advertising outside of Microsoft and Sony. One thing is certain, if you get the Microsoft Xbox 360 on store shelves before Christmas this year will be the biggest selling Christmas gift. Therefore, until your hands on a console?. Question everything!
